Tsukino is an ordinary middle school girl living in Tokyo in the 20th century. One day, Tsukino meets Luna, a mysterious black cat, who later becomes Usagi's mentor as a new heroine. Luna gives her a magic brooch and tells her that she is a Sailor Suit Warrior and explains how to use it to transform into Sailor Moon (Sailor Suit Warrior of Love and Justice). Luna tells her that she must fight for peace and that she needs to find the rest of the Sailor Soldiers, as well as their princess.
Usagi is reluctant to be a heroine at first, but over time she becomes more confident and mature in doing things. As Sailor Moon, she reincarnated with her evil rival and vowed to defeat him and protect Earth with the "magic silver crystal". The content in the manga and animation has most of the conflict here. Usagi's boyfriend is Michiba. The relationship between the two is an important part of Tsukino's personal life as well as the entire series.
In the manga and anime series, Usagi and Michiba have been dating for a long time, and their love has brought Usagi through many challenges. In the anime adaptation, just before Michiba leaves for the United States, he gives Usagi a heart-shaped promise ring. The ring represents their promise that they will eventually get married.
